  Reflections on Workshop 2 of the InnoAIQA-VN Project: AI, Quality Assurance, and Responsible Innovation in Higher Education I recently had the opportunity to attend Workshop 2 of the InnoAIQA-VN Project , held at Tay Nguyen University , with the theme: “Applying Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education Quality Assurance: Opportunities, Challenges, and Ethical Considerations.” The workshop was a meaningful and valuable learning experience for me. Through the presentations, discussions, and project-sharing sessions, I gained many new perspectives on how artificial intelligence can be applied in higher education quality assurance. The discussions went beyond technology itself and touched on broader issues such as data governance, curriculum improvement, decision-making support, data security, ethical considerations, and the responsible use of AI in university management. Activities in Workshop 1 (20 Jan 2026) & Workshop 2 (31 March 2026)  

  Workshop 2 – When Students “Know” AI Ethics but Don’t Always Practice It On the morning of March 31, 2026, Workshop 2 of the InnoAIforSR-PVDUni Project (Applying AI in Research for Pre-Service Teachers) was held at Pham Van Dong University. At this stage, third-year students had completed their teaching practicum and were able to fully participate, while fourth-year students were still engaged in their practicum and could not attend in person. Out of 23 research groups approved under Decision No. 465/QĐ-ĐHPVĐ, 10 groups joined the workshop. In addition, the event attracted second- and third-year students interested in research and AI applications. In total, 92 students from teacher education programs participated.   How InnoAIforSR-PVDUni Teaches Students to Use AI Responsibly At Pham Van Dong University, the InnoAIforSR-PVDUni project is changing how students use AI in research. Instead of banning AI or letting it replace thinking, the project trains students to use AI as a research assistant . Students must still write: Literature reviews Research rationales Methodology Reference lists Citations But now they also must declare how AI was used — which tool, what prompt, and how they edited the output. This approach protects academic integrity while letting students benefit from AI’s speed and power. It also prepares future teachers to guide their own students in ethical AI use. InnoAIforSR-PVDUni is not teaching students to let AI think for them — it is teaching them how to think with AI.

Responding to this challenge, the InnoAIforSR-PVDUni Project has been launched at Pham Van Dong University to support teacher education students in applying AI to scientific research in a structured and principled way.
